Qualification courses and Traineeships
The Financial Services School has developed courses to suit industry needs and conducts assessments in the following qualification streams.
FNS30610 Certificate III in Insurance Broking
This qualification is designed to reflect the role of entry level employees carrying out work in insurance broking in a range of environments including as a member of a team in a large organisation or a small broking practice. Options to meet ASIC requirements for Tier 2 general insurance advice are available. Possible work functions may include:
- Database processing/reception duties
- Assisting Account Managers
- Assisting a broking client with an insurance claim
The course is a combination of written assessment tasks and practical assessment. Students are provided the opportunity to demonstrate recognition of prior learning.
Traineeships
Take advantage of government incentives – this course is available as a traineeship to both new and existing workers in some States and/or Territories.

FNS41710 Certificate IV in Insurance Broking
This qualification is designed to reflect the role of mid level employees carrying out work in insurance broking in a range of environments including as a member of a team in a large organisation or a small broking practice. Options to meet ASIC requirements for Tier 2 general insurance advice are available. Possible work functions may include:
- Assisting in managing broking business on behalf of a client
- Maintaining a small portfolio of broking business
- Responding to customer enquiries for insurance broking products and services
- Assisting a client with an insurance claim and monitoring the claim
- Maintaining a claims data base system
Traineeships
Take advantage of government incentives – this course is available as a traineeship to both new and existing workers in some States and/or Territories.

FNS51210 Diploma of Insurance Broking
This qualification is designed to reflect job roles in insurance broking in a range of organisations as a team member or leader in a large organisation/small business practice or as a sole operator. The course incorporates RG146 Tier 1 Insurance Broking. Suited to those with the following current or potential work functions:
- Identifying risk within a client’s broking portfolio
- Monitoring a client’s broking portfolio including monitoring complex domestic and business risk portfolios
- Negotiating and resolving disputes
- Negotiating with insurers on behalf of their clients in an insurance claim
- Prepare new business proposals for insurance broking clients
- Reviewing and reporting losses
- Working as an insurance broking account executive.

Balance of Diploma - Tier 1 previously completed through another Registered Training Organisation
If you have completed your Tier 1 Insurance Broking elsewhere, we will assess and map your Tier 1 course competencies to the current training package and advise you of the units of competency required to complete the full Diploma qualification. You simply need to provide us with a Statement of Attainment for your Tier 1 course. For more information contact us.
